Pune: On behalf of the Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Intermediate Organization, a protest will be held at the Office of the Education Commissioner at Rosi Punya on December 27 to demand additional burden on non-academic work. Various 23 primary teachers organizations in the state are participating, this information was given by the organization.
Teachers unions in the state have become aggressive against non-academic work practices. As soon as teachers boycott the Navbharat Literacy Survey program of the Central Government, teachers are being forced to do so.
The Central Government has started the award-winning Navbharat Literacy Survey and through the Director of Education (Scheme) or Department, primary teachers in the state are often forced to do non-academic work. A request has been made to hold a meeting with the school education ministers in this regard. Also, Dr. Mahesh Palkar, Director of the Planning Department, has met the organization and given a request.
According to the Right to Education Act- 2009, teachers are obliged to provide quality education to students aged 6 to 14. Since Navbharat Literacy Program is a program of completely non-academic nature, the teachers union has boycotted it. At the same time, Pune city branch president Balkrishna Chormale and Vikas Kate said that for the last eight-ten days, teachers are being mobilized for the implementation of Navbharat Literacy Programme.
Threats like that I should pay teachers, withhold salaries, file criminal cases, etc. are being issued. The Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Intermediate Organization will take out a grand front on Wednesday (Dec. 27) at the office of the Education Commissioner to protest against any non-academic work that is against the state government or against the power of the government or imposed on teachers.
