Himachal Pradesh tourism: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that there is a rush of tourists in Himachal Pradesh (Himachal Pradesh). Earlier this year, the state faced severe floods and landslides. Due to the floods, there was heavy damage in the state. After surviving the pandemic, Himachal Pradesh is once again teeming with tourists.
With Christmas and New Year around the corner, popular destinations like Shimla and Manali experience a surge in foot traffic. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh said that Himachal is again ready to receive tourists after the disaster and welcomes tourists.

Atal Tunnel Rohtang is active again
The 9.2 km long Atal Tunnel Rohtang is the world’s longest highway tunnel at an altitude of 10,000 feet. It welcomes tourists from all corners of the state. Rohtang tunnel is experiencing huge crowding. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu expressed happiness over the return of tourist attractions in the state. The number of tourists to the state has crossed lakhs. We welcome this.” – said Sukhwinder Singh.
12,000 vehicles and 65,000 tourists reached Atal Tunnel on Sunday. He also stated that this arrival of tourists has created a record.
“Himachal will soon recover from the aftermath of the disaster. This rush is the first step. The state is ready to receive tourists.” – Chief Minister Sukh said.
A season of safety and security
In the event that the influx of tourists and Christmas celebrations are coming, the authorities have prepared heavy security in the state. DGP Sanjay Kundu said the local administration and police forces of Lahaul, Spiti and Kullu districts are working round the clock in freezing temperatures (almost minus 12 degrees Celsius) to manage traffic smoothly and reach everyone safely at their destinations.
The Kullu District Police has implemented a special action plan for Christmas that includes maintaining law and order, traffic management and rescue operations through CCTV and drone surveillance.
“Due to snow and black ice, the roads are likely to be slippery in the evening. Cops will ensure safe travel for travelers keeping this in mind.” – Kullu District Police clarified.
